When the RMC was founded on 19 October 1983, the names of officers of the People's Revolutionary Army (PRA) were the only people listed. It is rumored that even General Austin was unsure of who was a member of the RMC.
By 21 October, the American Embassy in Bridgetown had an initial list, but its source is unknown.
There were officers whose names were announced on Radio Free Grenada (RFG) and/or in an 'official' manner via announcement(s).
Some of the officers whose name included on those lists were not consulted - not at all. I make the point that those officers whose names are in doubt are listed below, with comment, precisely because their names show up on lists. Posting them below is not aimed to suggest they belonged to the RMC.
And what was the RMC anyway? Despite demonizing propaganda, most likely the people who came together to attempt to keep some hold and control of events were a scattered bunch. There are no readily available reports that the RMC actually met together. If you put yourself in the panicky shoes of government people in face of an imminent attack by outside forces, might you not want to scramble to present what would appear to be an interim government?
There is another list of people who were suggested to form a new government, but the intervention of US and Caribbean forces halted this plan.
The accuracy of the list below is quite questionable. Usually sixteen is the number quoted for members of the Revolutionary Military Council. The best known is that the following officers, listed in order of military rank, may have been members [and maybe they were not]:
General Hudson H.A. Austin, Chair
Lt. Col. Liam Owusu James, Vice-Chair
Lt. Col. Ewart Headache Layne, Vice-Chair
Major Christopher Stroude
Major Leon Bogo Cornwall
Major Basil Akii Gahagan
Major Keith Roberts [according to three accounts]
Major Ian St. Bernard [according to three accounts]
Major Dave Tan Bartholomew [according to three accounts]
Major John Chalkie Ventour [according to one account]
Captain Lester Goat Redhead
Captain Hugh Huey Romain [according to three accounts]
Captain Francis Gill [according to one account]
Lieutenant Iman Abdullah (Callistus Bernard)
Lieutenant Rudolph Ogilvie
Lieutenant Ashley Ram Folkes [according to two accounts - Folkes account, stated on radio in 2007, said it is totally not true he had anything to do with the RMC; a print account has Folkes correcting a Radio Free Grenada announcement on the morning of 20 October 1983.]
Lieutenant Cecil Dumpy Prime [according to two accounts]
Lieutenant Vincent Roberts [according to one account]
2nd. Lieutenant Kenrick or Kendrick Fraser [according to three accounts]
2nd. Lieutenant Raeburn Nelson [according to two accounts]
